Naples is worldwide famous especially for what regard food issue, not just pizza but also and especially the cuisine that reflects the Neapolitan tradition based above all on fresh sea fish. Here is possible to eat at every hour of the the day so don't be afraid to enter in a restaurant after 2pm or 11pm. To stay in theme with the philosophy behind Lovingitaly i have reported only those places cheap and trendy that offer very good food ignoring those that are the typical turistic restaurants who are not covered in this guide deliberately except for some that are so famous that I have to talk about it. All the restaurants I talk about in this guide are personally tested and as somelliere i will give you the right advice for the local wine to associate to every dish to appreciate at the best the food...but now stop talking and let's start the gastronomic tour.

back to top Wine Bar Restaurants

Dinner time and looking for a place to eat in the same area? Within walking distance my advice is Ebbrezza di Noé wine bar reataurant in Vetriera street next to Palms cinema. Wine Bar, definitely trendy, stylish ambience and a wide choice of wines divided by region, rooms cozy and warm and refined dishes perfect for tasting wine.Perfect place!

Cellaio (Carlo Poerio steet, 54 - 081.7641380) is a small and pretty restaurant so it is advisable to book, nice and warm, famous for its steak tartare, row and grilled meat and fillets (the bill is around 40/45 €).

back to top Cheap and Cool Fish Restaurants

Antonio & Antonio in Partenope street, 26 (081.682528) is undoubtedly one of the best fish restaurants in Naples and this for many reasons. The first is the location: the restaurant, in fact, is located on the waterfront close to the 3 major hotels in Naples (Saint Lucia, Vesuvius and Excelsior) breathtaking views of the sea front to Megaride island and dell'Ovo castel and already this would be enough for a positive review. What is surprising is the quality of the fish, always fresh, the pizza, one of the best neapolitan vesrions, pasta and especially scialatielli and paccheri with seafood, for the abundance of the portions, for the excellent wine list with honest markups where stand Fiano di Avellino Pietracalda, Greco di Tufo and Falanghina Cutizzi Serracielo from Feudi di San Gregorio (all at 18 euro) to end up with amazing sweets and especially a lemon delight scream and babaand finally an honest bill and you could not ask for more.

back to top Neapolitan typical and cheap trattorias

Da Tonino (081.421533) in Santa Teresa a Chiaia, 47 (closed on Sundays and Thursdays) for over 100 years at the table brings the city flavours without too many frills in a relaxed, informal and simple as zucchini and shrimp pasta, potatoes and provola also in tomato sauce, fish flag and then the typical desserts such as torta caprese with almonds, apples and an account that does not exceed 25 €.

Marinated anchovies, fried stuffed courgette flowers, pasta beans with chickpeas, noodles misery and nobility, ziti alla Genovese, cod, lamb chops, sausage and stuffed squid and friarielli to get closer to the true Naples tradition and the same bill around 25 € at Vecchia Cantina (081.5520226) alley in San Nicolas Charity 13 in the neighborhood of popular Pignasecca Area.

back to top Pizza

For those that are not from Naples i'm sure they would like to post me the following question: After talking about all this food, where can I eat a great pizza worthy of the neapolitan tradition? Da Michele is the most famous where you have to take a ticket and wait your time and when inside, after a long queue, few minutes to eat your pizza but it's worth because a pizza like this is really amazing. In Amedeo Square Area in Martucci street, 61 there is onother more confortable and greater location on two floors of the same restaurant.

Another institution for Neapolitan pizza is Sorbillo located in the historic center of the tribunals which already has an imitation with the same name right next so be careful to enter into the real one!

Attractive location directly opposite the sea in Partenope street and a meeting point during sunny weekends, great pizza at Fresco guarantee of quality and on the same street, a little forward, Antonio Antonio.

back to top Traditional Sweets and Famous Bakeries

Baba, Neapolitan pastiera, struffoli, sfogliatelle ricce and frolle, chiacchiere, Saint Joseph zeppole, where are the best neapolitan pastries to taste the best versions? Scaturchio is number one with his historic shop from 1900 in San Domenico square located in the heart of the historic center of Naples. For sfogliatelle ricce and frolle best placein town is close to central station in Vico Ferrovia 2, Attanasio bar the reference since many years.

back to top Coffe

The institution, the best coffe in town is Professor's Coffee in Trieste e Trento square, few steps from Plebiscito square, and beware of imitations in the same place even if a target remember the original one!
